The logs yard

The logs yard is a very important place. The yard manager has the weighty responsibility for optimization of the yield, by choosing the right diameter, straightness, and the suitable grade. A perfect knowledge of the log inventory is necessary to get the quintessence of this noble material which has to be respected ...

First transformation

Sawing

Thanks a big sawing capacity Grouazel is able to cut up to 150 m3 of logs a day :

a twin cut band saw with a slabber, completed with a pneumatic powered handling installation allows to move and sort timbers whose density can be higher than 1 ton per m3 when fresh sawn !
a second traditional band saw able to cut bigger lengths and diameters, completed with a board edger line.

Kilning

with 14 cells of 50 m3 each, Grouazel as enough capacity to kiln all its poduction by itself and even offer this service as sub contractor.

The boilers are feeded with bark and other wasted wood from the manufacture process.

To speed up dring time we use also two Gas vaccum Kilns which allow us to dry small volumes within a very short time.

Optimisation line

To get the best of our square edges, we sort the material thanks two GreCon optimization lines.

Our graduated classification team checks the boards one by one and mark the purge, which will be cut and removed while remaining boards are sorted according the grade thanks an optic camera in one of the suitable boxes.

So we can provide selected pieces for our second tranformation unit where we will produces finger jointed boards and laminated, or sell square edges for various purposes (flooring, joinery...) on domestic and export markets.
